Copper Rod For The Industries That Draw It

Core Industries

Where Our Copper Rods End Up

We sell to the drawers, forgers, headers and electrode makers who serve these markets. Each page below covers the grade, diameter and coil format their process runs, and what the rod becomes once it leaves.

Wire & Cable Manufacturing

Our direct customer

Rod breakdown lines run continuously and a single break costs an hour. That makes surface quality, ovality and consistent coil weight worth more than a cent a pound on the invoice. We cast and roll to ASTM B49 and ship in stem-wound coils sized to your payoff, with twist and elongation data on every certificate.

Electrical & Power Distribution

Largest end market by volume

Transformers, generators, switchgear and grounding systems all come back to drawn copper. ETP covers most of it. Oxygen-free shows up in transformer and generator windings, where the coil is annealed and varnished and any oxygen in the metal becomes a failure mode rather than a tolerance.

Construction & Infrastructure

Steady, code-driven volume

Every commercial and residential project pulls thousands of feet of copper building wire, and the NEC does not let anyone value-engineer the conductor. Demand tracks construction starts rather than technology cycles, which makes it the most predictable line in the book. Recycled input content also feeds LEED materials credits for project teams chasing certification.

Automotive & Electric Vehicles

Fastest growing, tightest audit

An EV traction motor uses roughly four times the copper of a comparable combustion vehicle, most of it as hairpin stator windings drawn from oxygen-free rod. Wire harness and terminal work runs on ETP. Both sides audit the supply chain hard, so lot traceability and consistent chemistry are part of the quote rather than an afterthought.

Renewable Energy

Volume against a build schedule

A utility-scale solar farm runs several tons of copper per megawatt across collection cable and grounding, and a wind turbine generator is largely copper winding. Schedules are unforgiving and material gets released against construction milestones rather than ordered in one drop, so availability across repeat releases matters more than unit price.

By Process

What Our Customers Do With Rod

If you are not sure which industry page fits, find your operation instead.

Wire Drawing

Rod breakdown through fine wire. Surface quality and ovality decide your break rate.

Cold Heading & Forging

Formed parts from rod without machining. Needs consistent grain and clean surface.

Welding & Electrodes

Contact tips, resistance welding electrodes and EDM stock, where conductivity holds under heat.

High-Purity Applications

Oxygen-free rod where the metal is brazed, annealed in hydrogen or used in vacuum.
